Our Story and Mission
Downtown 55 formed from five friends united by a shared love of music spanning generations. Our mission is to create memorable live experiences that celebrate inclusivity, fun, and the spirit of community at every pub or event we play. We value genuine connections and aim to make everyone feel welcome and involved.
The Band
Linzi
Lead Singer
Linzi is one of the founding members of the band. Prior to joining the band 2 years ago, the only people who had heard her singing were her family and the pupils she has taught over the years as their teacher. She credits the other members of the band with helping her find the confidence in herself to front the band and keep trying new challenges.
Music is her happy place! And she loves fronting the 4 amazing muscians that form the rest of our band.
Emma
Bass Guitarist
Em has always loved the sound of the bass (especially funky lines!) but didn't pursue the low end until later in life. This is her first band, having met Linzi a few years ago, and she loves jamming with her band family including her partner, Rob.
Em loves cats and her favourite bass player is the mighty James Jamerson.
Em love seeing folk up on the dancefloor at our gigs.
Rob
Guitarist
Rob joined shortly before the band was formed after being asked by old friend Linzi if he was available. As fate would have it, Rob and Ray knew each other from way backin the dim and distant past, playing together in a local band...small world!
Rob's played guitar since his schooldays and still jams with his 'old school band' mates...dad rock anybody?
Within a few weeks of joining Downtown 55, Rob and Emma became a couple also...he feels very grateful to Linzi..ta Cilla!!
Euan
Guitarist
Euan loves to drink beer and listen to heavy metal. He is also known to 'flick the bird' when a camera is about!!
Ray
Drums
Ray's a self taught drummer, taking after his dad. He has been gigging for years with different bands but has found his home with Downtown 55. He loves to have a laugh, and you wouldn't be surprised to find him the practical joker of the crew.
